You always have been and certainly continue to be absolutely the most important reason for our very existence, and we promise never to forget this simple truth. Our employee-owners will continue to do everything we can to constantly improve Tower Hobbies to serve you even better in the future. Together, we are Team Tower Hobbies and our personal and professional commitment to excellence is your guarantee of total satisfaction and outstanding value.Ĭlint, Jeri and I thank you for your loyal support all these years. A promise that is honored by each and every dedicated employee of Tower Hobbies. This game plan is a lot more than just a plan - it's a promise. I started, and we continue today, with a very simple game plan: offer the finest products available at the lowest prices and to provide absolutely the finest service. Now, the employees of Tower Hobbies own the company and have a real investment in 100% customer satisfaction. In 2005, Clint, Jeri and I sold Tower Hobbies to an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) but continue on in a leadership role. Clint brought considerable strengths to Tower Hobbies that enabled it to provide even better prices, products and services than ever before. In 1984 Clint Atkins, a local Champaign businessman joined Tower Hobbies in an ownership capacity. In the mid-'70s, Mark left Tower Hobbies to start a different business on his own. Tower Hobbies grew quickly as it revolutionized the radio control industry with toll-free "800" WATS lines, an in-house mainframe IBM computer, annual catalogs that are the "bibles" of the industry, a multiple-award-winning web site and most importantly a determined commitment to low prices, excellent service, and our "customers are Kings" attitude. A dream that has come true even beyond my wildest expectations!ĭuring the first year my brother Mark joined me in this fledgling venture and in 1972 Jeri and I were married and this brought our total employee roster up to three! During those early years we ate, breathed, slept, talked and dreamed about nothing but Tower Hobbies. A dream to create the largest and finest hobby mail-order company in the world. It all began with a love of hobbies, $800.00 in personal savings, and a dream. Transparent to the user, just flies like a big very well tuned aircraft. From Bruce Holecek, Founder of Tower Hobbies New Beast biplane and Gee Bee fly unbelievable with AS3X. Go where you point it FBL feel (very similar to MCP X in normal flight due to AS3X). Very stabile in hover, but NO coax type return to hover. The mSR X, Really a ton of fun, and very different than the mSR. 440 motor and great carbon blades out of the box. state of the art Beast X technology, high end DSMX, Clean simple light install. they ROCK!!! Wow, what performance, what value. It is also light, simple, and easy to use. There is a lot of cool software and tuning going on. We had some VERY high end (outside HH) pilots, as well as some very average pilots fly the new products just last last friday. Keep in mind, it is like nothing before it, No one has offered a BNF (convenient) Ultra Micro VTOL aircraft that comes out of the box with a fully programmed and very carefully tuned flight control system that lets a basic DX4e Tx fly a very sophisiticated aircraft Look at the big picture, and try AS3X before you conclude it is over hyped. Take a scale racer that is stubby and known to be a handful, but still an appealing plane, and make it fly beautifilly and gracefully. AND add in 3D as it never could before even with the best pilots! (the Beast) Take a known aerobatic plane that flies very well, but shows the limits of scale aerobatics, wing loading, etc, and make it do aerobatics better. Take a 3D VTOL plane that would be very unstable, and extremely hard to succeed with for all but the worlds top pilots and make it fun and approachable for everyone. But is about all three of the initial product, showing 3 capabilities of AS3X and one had to be picked to be the focal point IMO, so the VTOL would be a good choice. The hype is really about AS3X coming to aircraft. It is the internet, and it is inevitable!! No surprise there.Īs you can see as the web pages update. From my point of view, it was fun to watch something get hyped up, and get attention for all the cool stuff we have been working on.ĭid I expect some negative folks to come on after the build up. Hey, look, I am not a marketing guy, and I don't decide what to do with that effort. but I thought you guys may appreciate the perspective. Here is some info I posted on another (heli) forum, so I apologise if it is a touch out of context.
